ASSESSING COLLEGE STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION IN A COURSE
Complete the steps below to create a survey, generate a link to it, and receive the results
Following the 6 steps below will allow you to create a survey that you can use to ask college students about their motivation-related perceptions of your course. The survey will include the items from the College Student version of the MUSIC Model of Motivation Inventory. The results will provide you with a score for each of the five MUSIC model components: eMpowerment, Usefulness, Success, Interest, and Caring. You can use these scores to consider changes to your teaching strategies that can increase students’ motivation and engagement in your course.
In addition, you will have the option of including other questions on the survey that can provide you with more information about students’ motivation-related perceptions in your course. These options will be explained during Step 1 below.
Step 2
You will receive a confirmation email that includes the link to the survey.
Step 3
Send your students the survey link to begin collecting their responses.
Step 5
You will receive another confirmation email that includes a link to a report containing the student responses and suggestions for increasing students’ motivation.
